Workstation Requirements

IMPORTANT: Before installing the CommonLook PDF Validator, please ensure that the workstation meets the following minimal requirements.

  • Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista or XP
  • Adobe Acrobat 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0, 10.0 (Acrobat X) 11.0 (Acrobat XI), or DC – Standard or Professional.

Please be sure to follow the installation instructions carefully.

In addition, we strongly suggest you begin using the CommonLook Validator with the instructions in the User’s Guide!

Installation

Run the CommonLook PDF Validator installer to either:

  • Install the CommonLook PDF Validator for the first time or to
  • Update an existing installation of the CommonLook PDF Validator.

The installation MUST be performed while logged in to Windows as a user with Administrative Privileges on the local machine.

To Install, run the CommonLookPDFValidator.exe

This self-extracting zip file will bring up the Software License Agreement dialog.  Please make sure to read and agree with the License Agreement, check the I agree to the license terms and conditions checkbox, and choose Install.

Setup will extract the files needed to install the CommonLook PDF Validator.

Select Yes when asked if you want to allow the program to make changes to this computer.

Once the extraction process is completed, setup will start.

Depending on your workstation environment, prior to installing the CommonLook PDF Validator, setup may also need to install Microsoft .NET 4.0.  It may be necessary to reboot your machine one or more times during this stage of the setup.

Once all of the necessary files have been installed, the following Welcome Setup screen will be displayed.  Choose Next.

The Destination Folder screen allows you to specify a target folder for the software installation.  It’s recommended to use the default setting.  Choose Next.

At this stage, all information needed to install the CommonLook PDF Validator has been collected.

On the “Ready to Install” screen, choose Install.

Once the installation is completed choose Finish to exit the Setup Wizard.

When the dialog box displays that the setup was successful, choose Close.

If you encounter any issues during the installation, please email support@commonlook.com .  Try to include as many details as possible (screenshots are also very helpful).  Our Support Team will contact you promptly to assist you in handling any issues.

Making a PDF Compliant and Accessible

Once a PDF has been tested using the CommonLook PDF Validator, it may be necessary to fix some issues to bring it into compliance.
